Renee was12-years-old when she was living in the Lodz ghetto in Poland. She describes what happened when the ghetto was liquidated i.e. cleared of its Jewish population. She explains that inmates were called out to gather by the German occupiers. They hid her grandparents and 4-year-old cousin in the attic and then she marched with fellow prisoners to a local field. They were surrounded by armed Gestapo and SS with guard dogs. The parents of all children up to 18 were ordered to hand over their children. The cries of the mothers as their children were taken from them still haunts Renee. They later learned her grandparents and cousin were shot.

Hannah was 6 and, along with her mother, was a prisoner in a labour camp in Poland. Men from an Einsatzgruppe came to clear the camp.
Inna was 13 when she witnessed the Einsatzgruppen shooting of 33,771 people at Babi Yar in Ukraine.
Austrian Police volunteer Walter volunteered to join a shooting squad.
