J002 – Kindertransport children hear their parent’s fate

Bob was a Kindertransport child from Germany who came to the UK when he was 15-years-old. He heard what happened to his parents when a letter came at the end of the War telling him his parents, along with a thousand others, had been sent to the ghetto in Riga. His father was taken in March 1942 and shot. His mother survived until August 1944 when all over thirties were gassed.

Vera was a Kindertransport child from Czechoslovakia who came to the UK when she was 9-years-old. She learned what had happened to her parents when she received a letter from the Red Cross which said that her parents, grandmother, aunts and uncles and everybody in her family had been murdered.

Ann was Kindertransport children from Germany who came to the UK when she was 11-years-old. She explains that, on her gravestone, she wants to have put her parent’s names and that they were murdered by the Nazis at Auschwitz so, somewhere, there is a record of what happened to them.
