Barbara Cohen

Barbara became a member of Northwood Holocaust Memorial Day Events, now Holocaust Learning UK, fifteen years ago.  She was the conduit between the committee, coordinators of the programme in our participating Synagogues and the facilitators who led workshops during the educational events. She believes that it is essential for students to learn about the Holocaust and other genocides which continue to be perpetrated around the world.

Barbara worked in a Local Authority Social Work Team for ten years, after qualifying as a Psychiatric Social Worker. She then qualified as a Psychotherapist and worked for 20 years in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Departments. When she retired, she became a ‘manager’ on an NHS Trust’s Mental Health Panel.

She also volunteers in a charity in aid of victims of domestic violence and she supervises volunteers in bereavement support groups.
