Steven was just 6-years-old when the Germans invaded. He remembers that a sign went up at the entrance to the park at the bottom of his road saying ‘Voor Joden verboden.’ For Jews, forbidden. It meant that he was no longer allowed to play in the park with his friends and he couldn’t understand why.
