In all the countries occupied by the Nazis, Jews had to wear a symbol showing the outside world that they were Jewish. The most common symbol that Jews were forced to wear was a yellow star at all times. Failure to comply could result in execution or being sent to a concentration camp. Steven talks about his experiences in the Netherlands and how he had to have the star on every layer of his clothing, from coat, to jumper to shirt.
